Who we are
TEXTPET is operated by StudyTaco, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In these terms, "we" means StudyTaco and "you" means the person using TEXTPET. You can reach us at sarah@studytaco.com.
Agreeing to these terms
By taking the quiz, buying a report or using the reply tool at https://textingtype.com, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Disclaimer. If you do not agree, please do not use TEXTPET.
You must be at least 18 years old to use TEXTPET.
What TEXTPET is
TEXTPET has three parts:
- A free quiz that tells you your "texting animal".
- A paid pairing report, sold for a one-time price of $1.98 and shown on screen right away.
- A subscription reply tool that drafts text-message replies from a conversation you paste or a screenshot you upload.
TEXTPET is for entertainment and educational purposes only. It is not therapy, counselling, medical, legal or relationship advice. Our Disclaimer says more.
Pricing, free trial and auto-renewal
The report and a 7-day free trial of the reply tool are bought together in one checkout. The trial starts when you buy the report.
When the trial ends, your subscription begins and you are charged $28.80. The date of the first charge is shown at checkout, and we send you a reminder email before it happens. After that, the subscription renews automatically every month at $28.80 until you cancel.
If we change the subscription price, we will email you before the new price applies.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details, and we never see your full card number.
Cancelling
Cancelling is as easy as signing up:
- Click "Cancel subscription" at https://textingtype.com/account, which opens Stripe's customer portal.
- Use the "Cancel subscription" link in the footer of any page.
- Email sarah@studytaco.com and ask us to cancel.
If you cancel before your next billing date, you will not be charged again. You keep access to the reply tool until the end of the period you have already paid for. If you cancel during the free trial, you are never charged for the subscription.
Your content
You keep ownership of anything you paste or upload. You give us permission to process it only so we can provide the service, for example sending a pasted conversation to our AI provider to draft a reply. Screenshots are processed in memory and never stored on our servers. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
You are responsible for what you send. Drafts from the reply tool are suggestions. Read them, edit them and decide for yourself before you hit send.
Acceptable use
When you use TEXTPET, you agree that you will not:
- Upload or paste other people's private conversations unless you have the right to do so.
- Use the service to harass, threaten or deceive anyone.
- Scrape, crawl or access the service with bots or other automated tools.
- Try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service.
We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service.
Our content
The quiz, animal descriptions, reports, designs and code on TEXTPET belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for personal, non-commercial purposes only. Please do not copy, resell or republish them without our written permission.
Testimonials on the site are clearly marked as placeholders until we have real ones.
The service is provided as is
We cannot promise TEXTPET will always be available, error-free or right for your situation. The reply tool uses AI and can make mistakes. To the extent the law allows, we provide TEXTPET "as is" and make no promises beyond what these terms say.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to TEXTPET is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect losses, such as lost relationships, lost opportunities or emotional distress.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law gives you and that cannot be waived. Consumers in some places, including some Canadian provinces, the European Union, the United Kingdom and certain U.S. states, have rights that these terms do not limit.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will change the "updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, email you. Continuing to use TEXTPET after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Where the law lets us choose, disputes will be heard by the courts of Ontario. If your local law lets you bring a claim in your local courts, you keep that right.
